The Es Fortí, Son Cotoner and Son Dameto neighborhoods are part of one of the most sought-after areas of Palma, due to the wide variety of services they offer. These are located in the Poniente district, in the west area of the city.
Located 20 minutes away from Palma airport by car or by bus, 15 minutes from the city center and very well connected with many services. Surrounded by green areas, these neighborhoods have multiple sport and medical centers, supermarkets and leisure areas. There are several schools in the area as well.
Es Fortí is surrounded by Son Cotoner, Camp d’en Serralta and Bons Aires neighborhoods. It currently has about 7,000 inhabitants. The neighborhood has an elite Taekwondo club, an audiovisual art school, a military residence, a post office, several hotels, a pharmacy, a flower shop and many others. For gastronomy lovers, a great beer or a good coffee, in Es Fortí you can find many cafes, bars and restaurants to catch up with the family or some friends. To disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the center, we have Sa Riera park, shared with Son Cotoner. It also has playgrounds and a dog park so animal lovers can go with their furry friends.
Son Cotoner, located between Vía de Cintura, Jesús road, Sa Riera torrent, San Fernando avenue and Pascual Ribot street, has many supermarkets including Carrefour. It has a sports center, numerous schools, many bars and restaurants and a neighborhood house which offers activities and courses for people of all ages. It has Juaneda Miramar Hospital, a private healthcare reference center in the Balearic Islands, founded in 1969 which has fostered the growth and wealth of the neighborhood. On the other side of the motorway, we can find the Son Moix municipal sport palace and the RCD Mallorca football stadium, which currently plays in the Spanish first division. We can also find several fitness clubs, supermarkets like Lidl and a bowling center, for bowling fans. Today there are about 12,000 people living there.
Son Dameto also has a very good communication network (several bus lines and a 10 minute walk from the center). Its perimeter area goes from Pascual Ribot street to Sa Riera park, delimited by neighborhoods such as Son Espanyolet, Son Anglada, Son Rapinya or Camp Redó. In this neighborhood we find a healthcare center, several schools, supermarkets such as Mercadona or Agromart, pharmacies, a dance academy, the headquarters of the Local Police of Pama, paddle and tennis clubs or the Son Moix stadium. Of course, we could not miss bars, restaurants, cafeterias and green areas such as the Son Moix Blanc park.
The population of these neighborhoods oscillates between 6,700 and 12,000 people. Without a doubt, these areas have many restaurants with a wide gastronomic variety to choose from. From restaurants where you can eat a good burger to pizzerias, tapas bars or traditional takeaway food.
As for the education of the youngest members of the family, all these areas are perfectly prepared for family life with nurseries and schools. We can find both public schools such as the Marian Aguiló or Son Pisà college, as well as subsidized ones such as Santa Magdalena Sofía. There are also private schools on offer nearby.
In terms of leisure and sports, several sport centers such as the Taekwondo club and the Top Dance dance academy stand out in these neighborhoods. Just a few minutes on the other side of the motorway, we can find paddle tennis courts, tennis courts, the Son Moix Municipal Sports Palace (which appears in Adam Sandler's film Garra on Netflix) or the Mallorca Bowling alley. Also, as we have commented in more detail previously, we find many green areas and large parks where to disconnect in good company, play with the little ones of the family, walk pets or play sports.
In approximately 10 minutes by car or 30 walking, you can reach the center of Palma. The areas are very well connected with the rest of the city, passing several bus lines by. With the same ease you can also reach the Juaneda Miramar hospital and many supermarkets.
