Would you like to live in El Vivero - Son Cladera?

El Vivero and Son Cladera are two diverse and quiet neighbourhoods in Palma. Located in the Levante District of the city, they are perfect for those who are looking for a residential area in which to live and make their new home.

El Vivero was until two centuries ago a mainly rural area, made up of large traditional Mallorcan houses. Over time, it was transformed and urbanised to accommodate the working population, who worked in nearby factories or in the fields. Nowadays, the situation has changed, and there are several shops and companies in the area that dominate the economic activity. The houses are both more urban in appearance and more traditional in construction.

On the other hand, Son Cladera is a much newer neighbourhood, which emerged in the sixties, when the population of Palma was growing. It is made up of buildings of identical flats distributed in an orderly fashion, which speaks of the history of its formation and the need to provide a home for many people. It is, even today, a mainly residential area, without much economic activity.

These two neighbourhoods are home to around 7,000 inhabitants each, who are of diverse origins, Mallorcans, people of peninsular origin who emigrated to Mallorca and also other nationalities.

It is a quiet area, far from the centre. Even so, in El Vivero we can find all kinds of resources, establishments as diverse as a veterinary clinic, car workshops, motorbike shops, renovation companies and clothes shops. There are also cafés, bakeries and restaurants, where you can find traditional Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine and pizzerias.

It is also a good place for family life, where there are public and private schools, a language and remedial academy, as well as a children's playground, called "Can Llimona", next to the square of the same name. There is also another park, Son Ametler, a beautiful green space with trees and grass where you can take a quiet walk. Close to the neighbourhood is also the well-known San Pedro school and its football pitch, as well as the Virgen de la Salud hospital.

Although Son Cladera does not have much economic activity, it does have a petrol station, an Eroski supermarket, several pharmacies and even the well-known Makro, an establishment that sells all kinds of wholesale products. It also has a public school and a vocational training centre.

There is also the Son Cladera-El Vivero station, through which the Palma metro runs, as well as trains to Sóller and Inca. Near the edge of the neighbourhood is the Liceo School, in Sa Cabana, where there is also the Martí Serra i Mas Health Centre.

In both neighbourhoods there are bus stops on the public lines of the EMT of Palma. The journey to the centre takes about 20 minutes, and about 10 or 15 minutes by car, so it is very easy to reach any kind of need in a short time.

As far as leisure activities and sports are concerned, there are gyms and a canoe shop in El Vivero, but Son Cladera comes out on top in this respect. There is a Calisthenics park, with bars and structures to practice this activity in which you work the whole body using only your own weight, which is becoming more and more fashionable nowadays. There is also an establishment where you can rent bikes and a dance centre, so there is no shortage of activities to do in this neighbourhood. There is also the Virgen de Lluc sports centre and the Son Cladera sports club.

El Vivero and Son Cladera are quiet neighbourhoods but perfectly equipped for daily life. They allow you to enjoy the tranquillity that is lacking in the city, while maintaining good communication with the centre, which is only a few minutes away.
